Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Privacy

iWANTaNewKITCHEN.com's Privacy Policy was developed as an extension of our commitment to becoming the "resource guide" for homeowners in the process of designing and building or remodeling their kitchens. This Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect, use and safeguard the personal information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our Web site and our products and services. This Policy will be continuously assessed against new technologies, business practices and our customers' needs. By visiting our Web site, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Please note that this Policy may change from time to time. You should review the Policy periodically to see if changes have been made.

What Information Do We Collect?

When you visit our Web site you may provide us with two different types of information: (i) personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis and (ii) Web site use information that is collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our Web site.

Personal Information You Choose to Provide

               Collection of Member/Registration Information.

In order to use or take advantage of certain features of our Web site, you may be asked to become a "member" or to "register." This will require that you provide us with personal information, such as: your name, your mailing address, your e-mail address, your telephone number, and possibly other personally identifiable information. You may also receive from us a user name and password that you may be required to provide in order to reach certain parts of our Web site or take advantage of certain features of the site.

               Collection of Purchase Order Information.

If you choose to purchase products or services from us or businesses reached through links to our Web site, you may need to provide personal information and authorization to obtain information from various credit services. For example, you may need to provide the following information:
Name
Mailing address
E-mail address
Credit card number
Home and business phone number
Other personal information (for example, mother's maiden name)

Collection of Personal Information For Other Purposes.

In addition to member/registration information or purchase order information, there are other times when we may ask you to provide us with personal identification or demographic information. For example, you may have to provide such information to participate in surveys, contests or other special offers or to receive newsletters. Also, if you choose to correspond with us through e-mail, we may retain the content of your e-mail messages together with your e-mail address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone.

Web Site Use Information That is Automatically Collected

Like many other commercial Web sites, our Web site uses a standard technology called "cookies" (see explanation below, "What Are Cookies?") and Web server logs to collect information about how our Web site is used. Information gathered through cookies and Web server logs may include such things as the date and time visits, the pages viewed, time spent at our Web site, and the Web sites visited just before and just after our Web site. This information is collected on an aggregate basis and does not identify you personally.

What Are Cookies?  Cookies are a feature of Web browser software that allow a Web server to recognize the computer used to visit a Web site. Cookies are small pieces of data that are sent from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive by your Web browser software when you visit a Web site that uses cookies. Cookies can remember information about your use of a Web site and typically make your on-line experience easier and more personalized. For example, a cookie can be used to store information a user accesses on one Web page in order to simplify subsequent interactions with that Web site or to use the information to streamline the user's transactions on related Web pages. This makes it easier for a user to move from Web page to Web page and to complete commercial transactions over the Internet. Most cookies are stored only temporarily and are deleted when your visit to the issuing Web site ends. Other cookies remain stored in your hard drive until you choose to delete them. Although the "help" portion of the tool bar on most Web browser software will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting cookies, or notify you when you are receiving a cookie, or even how to disable cookies altogether, we recommend that you allow your browser to accept and enable cookies.

How Do We Use the Information That You Provide to Us?

          Use of Personal Information

Broadly speaking, we use personal information for purposes of providing customer service, administering our business activities, and making available other products and services to our customers and prospective customers.

Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our Web site, new services and special offers we think you will find valuable. You will be given the opportunity to notify us of your desire not to receive these offers by clicking on a response box when you receive such an offer or by sending us an e-mail request at info@iwantanewkitchen.com. The lists used to send you product and service offers are developed and managed under our traditional corporate methods designed to safeguard the security and privacy of our customers' personal information.

Also, we may enter into arrangements or agreements with third parties who may be given access to the personal information you provide to us, including your name, address, telephone number and e-mail, for the purpose of providing you information regarding their products and services that we think will be of interest to you.

Use of Web Site Use Information

We use Web site browser software tools such as cookies and Web server logs to gather aggregate information about our Web site users' browsing activities in order to constantly improve our Web site and better serve our customers. This information assists us to design and arrange our Web pages in the most user-friendly manner and to continually improve our Web site to better meet the needs of our customers and prospective customers.

Cookies help us collect important business and technical statistics. The information in the cookies lets us trace the paths followed by users to our Web site as they move from one page to another. Web server logs allow us to count how many people visit our Web site and evaluate our Web site's visitor capacity. We do not use these technologies to capture your individual e-mail address or any personally identifying information about you although they do permit us to send focused on-line banner advertisements or other such responses to you.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

          Information Security

We utilize encryption/security software to safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information (such as credit card numers) we collect from unauthorized access or disclosure and accidental loss, alteration or destruction. When you send confidential information to our Web site, a secure server software which we have licensed encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. The information is scrambled en route and decoded once it reaches our Web site.

Please note that e-mail that you may send us may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as credit card numbers, Social Security or account numbers to us through an unsecured e-mail.

Our Commitment to Children's Privacy. Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our Web site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our Web site is structured to attract anyone under 13.

          Employee Access, Training and Expectations

Our corporate values, ethical standards, policies and practices are committed to the protection of customer information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes and transactions.

How Can You Access and Correct Your Information?

You may request access to the personal information that you provide to us on-line and maintained in our database by e-mailing your request to info@iwantanewkitchen.com. In our response, we will instruct you on how to correct or update your personal information in a secure fashion. Do not e-mail corrected or updated confidential (credit card numbers, social security numbers, etc.) information to us until we have taken the appropriate steps to protect that information.

Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties?

We may provide aggregate information about our customers, sales, Web site traffic patterns and related Web site information to our affiliates or reputable third parties, but this information will not include your confidential information, except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy.

What About Legally Compelled Disclosure of Information? We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, such as by applicable laws or court orders. We may also disclose personal information when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires it or that it is necessary to do so for the protection of our legal rights or the rights of others, such as in response to police investigations or in order to allow us or others to identify, contact , investigate or bring legal action against persons violating agreements with us or who may be causing injury, interference or harm to us or others.

What About The Privacy Policies of Other Web Sites Linked to Our Web Site?

We are not responsible for the practices employed by Web sites linked to or from our Web site, just as we are not responsible for the information or content contained on those sites. Often links to other Web sites are provided solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful to the users of our Web site.

Please remember that when you use a link to go from our Web site to another Web site, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Your browsing and interaction on any other Web site, is subject to that Web site's own rules and policies. Please read over those rules and policies whenever you use a link to go to another Web site.

Share Our Strength, one of the nation's leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations began in the basement of a row house on Capitol Hill in 1984. In the beginning, we organized a handful of chefs to cook for fundraisers. Today we mobilize thousands of individuals in the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families and serve as anti-hunger advocates.
