Plans
And Drawings
Plans
for a kitchen remodel will be in a constant mode of revision, however,
they must be finalized before bids are sought, city permits are received
and approved, and construction begins.
Drawing a preliminary room outline and floor plan will help organize your
thoughts and let others clearly follow your design or ideas. A room outline
and floor plan is a birds-eye-view of the kitchen from above showing the
walls, windows, doors, plumbing and electrical connections. An elevation
drawing is a "straight-on" look from a standing perspective and shows
the arrangement of features such as walls, cabinets, appliances, electrical
outlets, windows and doors. Measure your space and put these dimensions
on ½" scale graph paper so that you have an accurate accounting of available
space.
If you haven't completed this yet, look back at our section on "Room Outline"
for more information or link to "Kitchen
Planning: Put It On Paper" at Homestore.com. A step-by-step guide
for measuring, "Measuring Your Kitchen," is available also from Discount
Cabinets & Appliances, Inc.. KitchenQuest.com also has a "Measuring
Guide".
